We aim to make your massage as comfortable, helpful, and relaxing as possible.
If you're new to massage or would simply like to understand how we do things here at FWMC, you may find some of the following information helpful.
How do I prepare for my massage?
The best preparation for massage is plenty of water and rest. The more hydrated and relaxed you are, the more effective the massage will be.
Do I tip my therapist?
Tipping is common in this industry and many find it a kind and courteous way to thank their therapist for doing an exceptional job. That being said, tipping is not obligatory and our therapists are paid a fair wage for their services.
What are your hours?
Our hours are the following:
Sunday and Monday Closed
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 9 AM - 7 PM
Friday 9 AM - 4 PM
Saturday 9 AM - 2 PM
Should I get deep tissue?
If you tend to like firmer pressure or are looking for greater therapeutic benefit from your massage, deep tissue may be for you. Deep tissue massage can be contraindicated on individuals with certain medical conditions. If you have any concerns or questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.
Do I need to remove my jewelry?
Whenever it is possible to do so, we encourage clients to remove all jewelry. It is far easier and efficient for therapists to massage a client when jewelry does not impede their work. Necklaces are especially important to remove as therapists will often focus on the neck and shoulders in a session.
What length of massage should I get?
Generally, we recommend at least 60-90 minutes for a full-body massage. Shorter massages (20-45 minutes) can be excellent options for those wanting work only on specific areas or for those trying massage for the first time. When receiving deep tissue, as it takes longer for the therapist to work down to the deeper layers of muscle, we recommend 60 minutes for specific work and 90 minutes for a full-body.
How often should I get a massage?
Many of our clients find that they like having a massage scheduled on a semi-regular basis. Most often, this means that we see them once a week, once every two weeks, or once a month. These are all great options for regular maintenance, the monthly visits being the most common for those looking for an economical option.
Do you do pregnancy massage?
We certainly do! Prenatal massage is just another form of our integrative massage, so it is the same price. All of our therapists are trained in prenatal massage, so you can be assured that you will receive great care. We generally do not perform prenatal massage on a client in her first trimester as risks are significantly reduced after this point. In addition, we ask any client with a high-risk pregnancy to provide us with a doctor's note or referral. Our prenatal massage is most commonly performed with the client on her side, propped up by as many pillows as needed for adequate comfort.
Can I book FWMC for events?
Certainly! We can do small-group events in our facility and can also be contracted for larger outside events. If you are interested in either of these options, please send an email to email@example.com with details about your event.
Is passing gas in a massage session normal?
Passing gas during a massage is certainly not uncommon. The combined pressure and movement from the therapist can get gas moving in your system. If you pass gas during your session, don't distress. Your therapist will think nothing of it.
Do you have any age restrictions?
We are happy to perform massages on clients of all ages. However, massages being performed on minors (age 17 and younger) will require a parent or guardian to both fill out a consent form and be present for the massage session. Additionally, clients age 4 or younger will need a doctor's note or referral for a massage.
How soon after surgery can I receive a massage?
This is best left up to the discretion of your doctor. In our experience, we have seldom worked on any client less than two weeks out from a surgery.
What are the professional boundaries of a massage session?
There are a few basics to our professional boundaries here at FWMC. First, all of our therapists only undrape the part of the body on which they are currently working. Second, sexual solicitation of any kind is prohibited and will result in immediate termination of the session. Third, both client and therapist are within their rights to end the session at any time for any reason.
